Virgin Australia (Virgin Samoa) Boeing B737-800 VH-YID Calls into Gladstone Airport

Making a surprise and very welcome visit to Gladstone Airport on Monday 10 April was Virgin Australia (Virgin Samoa) Boeing B737-800 VH-YID.  It operated the VOZ1709/1712 return service from Brisbane.

Virgin Australia has recently been operating larger capacity Embraer E-190 and Boeing B737-800 jets into Gladstone Airport, most likely also transporting passengers bound for Rockhampton who are being transported to the flood-hit beef capital by bus while Rockhampton Airport remains closed.

Of interest, VH-YID largely operates on Virgin's overseas sectors and wears colours and titles of Virgin Samoa - which was preceded by Polynesian Blue - for operations also into Western Samoa and other Pacific Islands.  It also wears the name 'Tapu'itea'.
