Local plane spotter Michael F was at the right place at the right time to capture a photo of the Herc as it touched down at Gladstone Airport while completing a ‘touch-and-go’.
From Gladstone, A97-467 continued North and completed more airwork at Mackay Airport before finishing the day at Townsville.
A97-467 was heard to be using the radio callsign of “Ausy 708”.
Meanwhile, it wasn’t the only RAAF aircraft to be noted completing airwork in CQ on Tuesday 3 October with RAAF Boeing P-8A Poseidon Maritime Surveillance Aircraft A47-001 noted completing a missed approach at Hamilton Island Airport.

It looked to fly north to Hamo from its home at RAAF Base Edinburgh in South Australia via airwork at RAAF Base Amberley. A47-001 appreared to then continue North towards Cairns for more airwork off the coast before also finishing the day at Townsville.
A47-001 was heard to be using the radio callsign of “Blackcat 61”.
Finally on Monday 2 October, a pair of RAAF Beech B350 Super King Air turboprops were heard passing through CQ with one believed to have called into Bundaberg Airport for a brief period of time. A32-675 flying as "Dingo 01" was noted arriving into Bundaberg Airport from Townsville before it later departed to RAAF Base East Sale in Victoria. While A32-426 "Dingo 02" also flew South through CQ from Townsville and looked to land at RAAF Base Amberley.
